Abstract: With the other technologies, the use of diagnostic radiation is growing exponentially for the newlinedetection of cancer and other diseases. Recent data suggested that the number of irradiated newlineindividuals increasing at a much higher rate than the expected rate. There are many reported newlinestudies and laboratory-based epidemiological data which proved that gamma radiation at a higher newlinereceived dose may induce a significant health issue. Although, the mechanisms which are newlineresponsible for the induction of damage by the low dose of radiation are still under investigation. newlineAmong the other isotopes, the application of 18F-FDG (2-[ newline18F] fluoro-2-deoxy-d-glucose) as a newlineradiotracer in PET/CT became very popular. Positron emitting 18F-FDG emits 511 keV and#947;-rays newlinethrough the annihilation process. In a normal PET/CT procedure, the absorbed dose is very newlinediverse among different body organs, depending on administrative radioactivity and biological newlineexcretion. On average, most of the body tissues are irradiated with 4-9 mGy, whereas in the heart newline(16-51 mGy), brain (10-36 mGy), and kidneys (7-23), the total absorbed dose is higher because newlineof its higher metabolic activity. In the first two parts of our study, we irradiated the cells by 8.22, newline14.51, and 26.86 mGy to check the biological effects, including DNA damage, cell apoptosis, newlinechromosomal aberrations, and micronucleus formation at different absorbed dose level. The newlineminimum dose that is 8.22 mGy was given to isolated lymphocyte cells whereas the other two newlinedoses 14.51 and 26.86 mGy was given to V79 cells. We checked early and late apoptotic cells newline(peripheral blood mononuclear cells or PBMCs) by microscopic fluorescent imaging after newlinetagging with annexin V FITC. We checked DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) analysis, and newlineDNA repair analysis using a technique like comet assay and and#947;-H2AX foci assay, and karyotype newlineanalysis was done to check chromosomal abnormalities. Result shows a significant amount of newline4 newlineapoptosis and DNA DSBs at an absorbed dose of 8.22 mGy and all the damages are
