Abstract: | Globally, the 60-plus population constitutes about11.5 percent of the total population of 7 billion. By 2050, this proportion is projected to increase to about 22 percent when the elderly will outnumber children (below 15 years of age). In less developed countries the proportion of the elderly will increasefrom 9.9 percent in 2012 to 20.2 percent in 2050. newlineOf all disability among people over 60 years the most common mental and neurological disorders in this age group are dementia and depression, which affect approximately 5% and 7% of the world s older population, respectively. Mental health has an impact on physical health and vice versa. Dementia and depression among older people are genuine public health issues. The possible beneficial impact of caloric restriction without malnutrition has been consistently reported in rodents,monkeysand human subjects. The present cross sectional study aim to target a human male population consuming variable calories such as, At Par calorie (in consistent with calorie requirement), CR (consuming lt20% calorie than actual requirement) and CE (consuming gt30% calorie than actual requirement) while additionally they all are micronutrient deficient. Report on such study population is not available despite the study is highly relevant and significant keeping in view the nutritional ambience of most of the underdeveloped and some of the developing countries which include nations of the AFRICAN continent and several countries in Asia including INDIA, PAKISTAN, BANGLADESH, SRILANKA, MAYANMAR, INDONESIA, NEPAL, BHUTAN and may be few others. newline |
