Abstract: | newline A total of 52 mungbean genotypes were evaluated in summer 2017 and the data obtained from eight quantitative traits were subjected to multivariate analyses. Analysis of variance showed significant genotypic variation for all the characters studied. The genotypes viz., EC 118889, HUM 2, Barimung 7, Binamung 2, KMG 189, EC 396116, EC 396113, EC 396101, Binamung 7, EC 396103, EC 396113, V2802BG and LM 469 showed better mean performance for yield and important yield attributing traits. These genotypes could be utilized for further mungbean improvement programmes. The correlation studies revealed that plant height, days to first flowering, days to fifty per cent flowering and number of pods per plant were positive and significantly associated with single plant yield. Path analysis revealed that number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod and hundred seed weight contributed high and positive direct effects on single plant yield. Principal component analysis identified three principal components contributing about 77.22 per cent to the total variability among the accessions studied. The hierarchical cluster analysis based on quantitative traits grouped the mungbean genotypes into three main clusters and six sub-clusters. newline The evaluation of genotype × environment interaction (G×E) for single plant yield in 52 mungbean genotypes were observed from three different environments viz., Virinjipuram (E1), Echangkottai (E2) and Bhavanisagar (E3) during kharif 2017, 2018 and 2019 respectively. Additive main effects and multiplicative interaction (AMMI) model showed the maximum contribution of genotypic effect than the interaction (G×E) effects. Genotype main effects and genotype × environment interaction effects (GGE) portrayed the highly discriminating (Bhavanisagar) and representative (Virinjipuram) environments. The genotypes with minimum genotype stability index (GSI) viz., EC 396113, EC 396097, V2802BG and the vertex genotypes (V2802BG, EC 396098, EC 396103) from GGE biplot indicated their wide adapt |
