Abstract: Field experiments were conducted at Wetland farm, Department of Farm newlineManagement, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore during 2014-2015 and newline2015-2016 to study the integrated nutrient management for sustainable growth and newlineproduction in rice - rice - greengram cropping system. The field experiments were laid newlineout in split plot design with three replications and the same layout was maintained newlinethroughout the experimental tenure. The experiment comprised of four main plot newlinetreatments viz., M1 (No application of Dhaincha and crop residue), M2 (Incorporation of newlinedhaincha at 6.25 t ha-1 + No application of crop residue), M3 (No Application of newlinedhaincha + Paddy straw residue Addition at 30 %) and M4 (Incorporation of Dhaincha at newline6.25 t ha-1 + Paddy straw residue Addition at 30 %) and three sub plots comprising of S1 newline(Recommended dose of NPK), S2 (STCR approach) and S3 (LCC based N application) newlineduring kharif and rabi seasons of 2014-15 and 2015-16, respectively. Crop varieties ADT newline45 (rice) and VRM GG1 (greengram) were used as test crops for both the years of study. newlineIn first the crop sequence, (M4S3) dhaincha at 6.25 t ha-1 and residue addition of newline30 % paddy straw with LCC based N application performed better and in the second newlinecropping sequence also the same treatment combination found to be more effective. newlineThe morphological traits such as plant height, leaf area index, number of tillers per m2 newlineand dry matter production were significantly enhanced by this treatment throughout the newlinestudy period in both the crop seasons of 2014 and 2015. newlineIn the present study of rice-rice-greengram cropping system, the growth traits newlinesuch as leaf area, leaf area index and dry matter production were improved effectively by newlineM4S3 (dhaincha at 6.25 t ha-1 and residue addition of 30 % paddy straw with LCC based newlineN application). This was on par with STCR approach of fertilizer recommendation. newlineWith regard to nutrient uptake (nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium), more uptake of newlinenutrients was noticed in the treatment combination of (M4S3) dhaincha at 6.25 t
