dc.description.abstractnewline The aim of this thesis is to give brief idea about the Sun worship newlinebased on Sanskrit sources. As a super natural power, ancient people started newlineworshipping the Sun. They believed that, worship of the Sun is the main reason for newlinethe existence of their life on Earth. Reference to various mythologies gives an idea newlineabout the worldwide existence of the Sun worship. The importance of the Sun and newlineits worship is mentioned in Vedic literature (Vedas, Samhitas, Brand#257;hmaand#7751;as, newlineand#8121;raand#7751;yakas, Upaniand#7779;ads). Many places of Epics (Rand#257;mand#257;yaand#7751;a and Mahand#257;bhand#257;rata) and newlinePurand#257;and#7751;as, there is a mention about the importance of the Sun and its worship. Many newlineSun temples situated in India are the proof for the existence of the Sun worship in newlineIndia. Various classical texts are mentioning about the importance of the Sun newlineworship, among them Mayand#363;ras Sand#363;ryaand#347;ataka is the only text, which is fully newlinededicated to the Sun God.
