Abstract: Schiff bases represent a class of organic compounds which are formed by condensing primary amines with carbonyl compounds giving rise to CH=N- functional group. They behave like ligands during complexation processes and at the same time can act as materials for semiconducting, optical as well as therapeutic activities. The present work embodies the synthesis and characterization of some 4-aminoantipyrine (4-AAP) based Schiff bases. It is well known that antipyrine derivatives are used in various pharmaceutical industries as they have analgesic, antitumor, antimicrobial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties.
