Analysis Of Traffic Noise In Major Cities Of Odisha India And Traffic Noise Modelling Using Soft Computing Technique

Abstract

In the developing and developed world, urban residents are increasingly exposed to higher level of traffic noise owing to more and more number of vehicles on the road. Rapid increase of the industrialization, urbanization, road networks and volume of motor vehicles brought noise pollution to the highest level of debacle in a current situation. Noise pollution occurs when noise level exceeds certain limit and has deleterious effects on human health and wellness. The effects of noise reduce the wellbeing elements of urban residents The Odisha is the one of the premier state in eastern part of India. Odisha; as a developing state, its citites and towns are growing parallaly. The parametric study of different environment pollutions in cities of Odisha is in budding stage. Though there are various studies related to traffic noise have been done in big cities in India and abroad. But there are no such adequate study has been made in Odisha. The present study was made to fill the gap to certain extent. The three cities were chosen on the basis of their population, geographical location and developments in recent times. These cities are; Bhubaneswar (Capital of Odisha), Sambalpur (prime city in western region) and Berhampur (prime city in southern region). The objective of this research was to ascertain the ground realities of traffic noise and its impact on the urban residents. newline
