In the distribution system, the renewable energy sources such as newlinesolar, hydro, wind, etc., are used as Distribution Generation (DG) to produce newlinean electrical energy because of their environmental and economic benefits. To newlineattain these benefits, optimal location, and optimal sizing of DG in the newlinedistribution system are very important. Here, Photo Voltaic (PV) array is used newlineas DG in the distribution system to produce the reliable power. However, PV newlinearray is used in the distribution network, which tends to reactive power newlinemanagement. Due to this, Distribution Flexible Alternating Current newlineTransmission System (DFACTS) device is used to compensate the reactive newlinepower. Generally, Distribution Static Compensator (DSTATCOM) is used in newlinethe distribution system as a DFACTS device because of its less size and low newlinecost. The optimal allocation and optimal sizing of DSTATCOM improves the newlinevoltage stability. Also, the reconfiguration of the distribution system can newlineincrease the performance of the system. Hence, optimization techniques have newlinebeen implemented to analyse reconfiguration, optimal allocation, and optimal newlinesizing in the distribution systems. Simulations have been done in MATLAB newlineplatform for the proposed optimization algorithms in an IEEE 30-bus test newlinesystem. Newton Raphson method is used for load flow analysis to obtain the newlineoptimal bus values where DSTATCOM and PV array must be placed in the newlinedistribution systems. newlineOptimal allocation of DSTATCOM and PV array in the distribution newlinesystem has been done using Fuzzy-Lightning Search Algorithm (FLSA) to newlineobtain the power loss reduction, voltage profile betterment and stability newlineenhancement in the distribution system. In this, four different cases are used newlineand the proposed case (4) (placement of DSTATCOM and PV array in the newlinenetwork) gives better results. newline
