Many newlineprocess improvement tools, techniques and strategies have been developed in last few newlinedecades. Among them, three strategies namely Quality Management System (QMS), Lean newlinemanufacturing and Six Sigma methodology have been considered to be more powerful in newlineimproving the competitiveness of the organization and in meeting stakeholders needs and newlineexpectations. newlineAmong the new quality and management techniques, Six Sigma methodology newlinegained more popularity by involving breakthrough strategies, statistical tools to achieve newlinereduction in defects to 3.4 Defects Per Million Opportunities (DPMO) and employs newlineproject, data driven approach to revolutionize the business by contributing to the bottom newlineline. Lean Manufacturing also another technique which gets wide acceptability and newlinepopularity, is a systematic methodology for reducing variability, waste, and inflexibility newlinerecognized during the product flow and reduce inventory and respond to customers at a newlinefaster rate. newlineThe new version of QMS is ISO 9001: 2015, which is the fifth in the series and has newlineten clauses (Scope; Normative references; Terms and definitions; Context of the newlineorganization; Leadership; Planning; Support; Operation; Performance evaluation and newlineImprovement) and is built on seven principles (Customer focus; Engagement of people; newlineEvidence-based decision making; Improvement; Leadership; Process approach and newlineRelationship management) and it focuses on Process approach and Risk based thinking. newlineIntegrated Lean Six Sigma methodology involves Lean manufacturing and Six newlineSigma methodology in which the Lean and Six Sigma tools are used in different phases of newline DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) procedure to minimize waste ; newlineachieve process standardization and simplification; increase customers satisfactio |
