Abstract: Organisational culture is a widely researched subject in the area of organisational studies. newlineLiterature review carried out pertaining to this subject, showed that a limited studies on newlinecultural aspects have been carried out in foundry industry, especially in the Indian context newlinein which, majority of the foundry units, close to 90%, fall under the category of MSMEs. newlineIt was a good motivation to contribute a small bit of research towards thefilling literature newlinegap. Foundry industry was chosen for the study because it is considered as the backbone newlineof Indian economic development and mother industry for most of the industry sectors, newlinewhere metal castings are being used. The scope of the study covers the foundries and newlinerelated engineering units in Hubli, Belgaum, and Kolhapur. Hubli and Belgaum are the newlinecities in the Indian state of Karnataka and Kolhapur is in Maharashtra. newlineThe study explores different cultural dimensions and aspects of skill development in newlinefoundry and related engineering units. Skill development refers to the improvement of newlineskills and competencies of employees and the practices/methods used for the same. newlineOrganizational culture impacts various aspects of organizational practices and skill newlinedevelopment is not an exception. So, the main objective of the study is to analyse the newlineimpact of organizational culture dimensions on skill development. This study brings out newlinethe significance of understanding the relationship between culture and skill development, newlinethereby helping the industry to focus on the dimensions of culture, which positively newlineimpact efforts of skill development and improve the dimensions where, impact is negative newlineor neutral.
