Abstract: | Concrete is the most widely used construction material for civil engineering field newlineand the concrete is composed by the cement, water, coarse and fine aggregates. The cement newlineis binding material for the concrete and there is a huge demand for cement due to rapid newlineurbanization and improvements in basic infrastructure. Many research works has been carried newlineout on various cements, which are available in the market and also the researchers are newlinelooking alternative materials for the cement, so that the natural resources can be saved for newlinefurther generations and to reduce emission of CO2 during manufacture stage. In the process newlineof inventions, Alkali activated aluminosilicate materials were evaluated in 1950s by newlineGlukhovsky and this is effectively brought in lime light for the globe by the Davidovits in newline1970 with the new term of Geopolymer (GPC). The Geopolymer is mainly composed with newlinealkaline activators, source materials (fly ash, GGBS, metakaoline, rice husk ash etc) and newlineaggregates. In recent past many works has been focused to evaluate the strength properties newlinewith various source materials and experimental works were limited to laboratory. The newlinelaboratory studies were mainly focused on beams, columns and very few works on slab newlineelements. Hence in this view the present study is focused with steel fiber reinforced newlineGeopolymer concrete on two way slab elements to assess the strength and stiffness newlineproperties. The Geopolymer concrete is composed with micro and macro steel fibers. The newlineGPC constituted with base materials of Fly ash and GGBS and alkali activators of NaOH and newlineNa2SiO3 . newlineIn order to study the performance of concrete two way slabs, the slabs were tested newlineunder two different loading of four points and single point concentrated loads individually. In newlinetwo types of loadings, the slabs were tested with two different edge conditions of all sides newlinesimply supported and all sides fixed. The present experimental investigation is aimed to newlineinvestigate the following objectives newline To study the mechanical properties of Geopolymer concrete w |
