Abstract: newline The present study revealed that the suitable protocol was devised for an in newlinevitro organogenesis of Solanum elaeagnifolium Cav. which has many medicinal newlinevalues. The selected explants were cultured on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium newlinesupplemented with different concentration of growth hormones. Cytokinins viz. BAP newlineand kinetin (1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0 mg/L) is used for shoot proliferation and newlineelongation. The best shooting was obtained in 3.0 mg/L, since it gave the highest newlinepercentage of shoot regeneration (95%) and a highest number of explants responded newline(19/20). Among various concentrations of auxins viz. IAA+IBA combinations tested, newline1.0+1.5 mg/l was the more effective concentration for rooting of shoots in Solanum newlineelaeagnifolium. The plantlets with well-developed root systems were gradually newlineacclimatized to greenhouse using green manure with soil and take out to polyhouse. newlineThe antibacterial assay done by using various organic solvents like ethanol, newlineacetone, chloroform, ethyl acetate and petroleum ether leaf and stem extracts of newlineSolanum elaeagnifolium by disc diffusion and Plate hole diffusion methods. Mainly, newlineethyl acetate and ethanol extracts of Solanum elaeagnifolium had exhibits higher newlineinhibitory zones against tested bacterial pathogens. Both petroleum ether leaf and newlinestem extracts have not an inhibitory effect against all the test bacteria. This present newlineinvestigation is concluding the leaf extracts have more significant antimicrobial newlineresults than the stem extracts of the experimental plant. newlineIn preliminary phytochemical analysis of various phytochemicals were newlineobserved by different screening methods. The bioactive compounds were examined newlinethrough quantitative phytochemical tests from ethanol leaf extract of Solanum newlineABSTRACT newlineelaeagnifolium. These studies revealed the presence of bioactive compounds such as newlinealkaloids, carbohydrates, glycosides, tannins, terpenoids, saponin and steroids.
