Abstract: | Today, the rise in population and wavering climatic conditions paved the way for thermal imbalance in the ecosystem. Thermal equilibrium is one of the most important factors that influence human well being. Subsequently, thermal characteristics must be taken into consideration while planning and implementing design of human habitats. Building design has been turned out to be the most crucial stage where certain factors like thermal comfort and performance has to be analysed eand#64256;ectively. Moreover, it reduces the energy consumption of buildings which contributes to global energy conservation. Numerous studies have been done focusing on energy eand#64259;cient building materials and strategies. Most of the research has been conducted either with respect to numerical measurements under stable conditions or only as an indoor comfort assessment study in buildings. In recent years, the study of complex thermal characteristics of building envelopes has shown a growing interest in understanding its thermal performance, optimal management and energy use in buildings. The heat exchange rates are determined by thermo-physical properties of building materials which provide one of the aspects of thermal comfort within any building. In a given environment, the thermal comfort of the inhabitants relates to their health in relation to their ability to respond to thermal, physiological, psychological and behavioural changes. As a result of environmental issues, a wide range of environmentally friendly and creative construction technologies are being implemented in housing. For certain cases, thermal eand#64259;ciency remains undetermined because of lack of scientific proofs or inadequate computing instruments. The existing energy eand#64259;cient buildings methods focus only on very few forms of roofs and other building components. Therefore, the study on a precise thermal comfort forecast gains at most importance. newlineIn this research, the analysis of thermal comfort and performance of buildings constructed using energy eand#64259;cient materials is done. |
