Abstract: | newline ABSTRACT newlineWith more attention being given to security, people all over the place are attracted newlineto implement various security measures, out of which surveillance plays a newlinemajor role. By the implementation of the surveillance system, all over the globe, newlinea huge amount of data is being generated from various resources. Storing and newlineanalysation of this surveillance data is a tedious task for any organization. Distributed newlineenvironment plays a vital role for analysing the collected data. However, newlinesharing the data among various distributed devices in different layers, raises security newlineconcerns where an adversary may capture or tamper with features to mislead newlinethe surveillance system. newlineThe recognition and analysis of the above generated surveillance data to detect newlineunusual, unnatural events and detection of data that has been tampered and newlinewas tried to tamper is the area this thesis focussed on. The trade-off parameters newlineperformance and security are addressed in detail in the later section of the thesis. newlineSpecially, the proposed model deals with storage and computational efficiencies. newlineThese two types of efficiencies have to be provided for the data being generated newlineby the surveillance systems as our day-to-day activity. Thus, security has to be newlineprovided for such data. The main objective of this thesis work is divided into newlinethree research problems. newlineFirst research problem, addresses the issues involved in storing the information newlinein centralized storage systems and also about various authentication schemes to newlineiv newlineAndhra University, Visakhapatnam newlinebe employed. Storing the files using a protocol and peer-to-peer network solves newlinefew issues arising in the centralized storage systems. The sharing of data in a distributed newlinefile system called the IPFS standing for Inter Planetary File System uses newlinecontent-addressing to uniquely identify each file in a global namespace connecting newlineall computing devices. IPFS allows users to not only receive but host content, in newlinea similar manner to BitTorrent. As opposed to a centrally located server, IPFS |
