Abstract: newline ABSTRACT newlineINTRODUCTION: newlineDelirium is a serious disturbance in mental abilities that results in confused newlinethinking and reduced awareness of the environment. Delirium is a frequent and newlineserious problem in the intensive care unit (ICU). It is common in the early stages newlineof hospitalization for a variety of acute and chronic diseases. It is associated with newlineincreased mortality, prolonged mechanical ventilation, and prolonged hospital newlinelength of stay (LOS). Moreover, its consequences can be prevented by proper newlineassessment, diagnosis and management. Delirium prevalence varies considerably newlineby patient group and setting. Delirium is common in hospitalized older adults in newlinegeneral medical settings, with a 2020 meta-analysis of 33 studies of medical newlineinpatients finding an overall delirium prevalence of 23%. The prevalence of newlinedelirium after surgery ranges from low single-figure percentages in medically well newlinepatients undergoing minor elective surgery to and#8805;20% in high-risk patients newlineundergoing major surgery, especially under emergency conditions. newlineSTATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM newline Effect of ABCDE bundle implementation on prevention of delirium on newlinemechanical ventilation patients in Intensive Care Unit at Saveetha Medical College newlineand Hospital, Thandalam. newlineOBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY newlineThe objectives of the study are to newline1. Assess the level of delirium among patients on mechanical ventilation in newlineexperimental and control group. newline2. Determine Effect of ABCDE Bundle implementation on prevention of newlinedelirium among mechanical ventilation patients in experimental group. newline3. Associate the posttest level of delirium among mechanical ventilation newlinepatients in control group and experimental group. newlineRESEARCH METHODOLOGY newline Quasi experimental design was adopted for the study. Thirty patients on newlinemechanical ventilation whose having Intensive Care Delirium Screening newlineChecklist (1-8 Score) were selected by using purposive sampling technique. newline After selected the sample, informed consent was obtained after assuring newlineconfidence. The demographic variable
