Abstract: | Fertility restoration studies involving three male sterile lines viz., 104A, 401A newline(milo) and M31-2A (maldandi) and 125 genotypes [68 minicore (Set-I) + 57 mutant (Set- newlineII) revealed that, proportion of restorers on milo (104A and 401A) was more than on newlinemaldandi (M31-2A) and showed the complexity of restoration in increasing order of newline104Alt401AltM31-2A. Two restorers viz., DSMR-8 and DSMR-4 were found to be newlinestrong and stable on maldnadi across the seasons of rabi-2017, kharif-2018 and rabi- newline2018. newlineGenetic diversity study among 68 lines indicated that, 1000 grain weight newlinecontributed highest towards genetic divergence. Among the sixteen clusters, VI and XV newlinefound to be most divergent. Information on combining ability was sought through L x T newlineexperiment. Among the tester, 104A while, among the lines IS 7987, IS 29468, IS newline33353, IS 29392 and DSMR-4 were good general combiners. Whereas, crosses viz., newlineM31-2A x IS 30536, M31-2A x IS 8012, M31-2A x IS 14861, 104A x IS 15945 and newline104A x IS 29568 were good specific combinations. Different heterotic groups were newlineformed by following HSGCA and Mean and SD methods. Diallel experiment involving newlinerestorers and highly productive lines revealed that panicle weight (g) contributed most newlineto the heterosis for grain yield and the cross PKV Kranti x DSMR-8 was found to be newlinemost heterotic over three checks. It also revealed that majority of the characters were newlineunder the control of non additive gene action and the crosses viz., DSMR-8 x IS 22720, newlineIS 4515 x IS 2312, BJV 44 x DSMR-4 were found to be good specific combinations. newlineThe lines viz., PKV Kranti, BJV 44 and DSMR-8 were found to be good general newlinecombiners. Different heterotic groups were identified by following SCA-PY and newlineHSGCA methods and six most potential parental combinations were determined based newlineon HSGCA method. Inheritance of fertility restoration on maldandi source of male newlinesterility revealed 54F:10S ratios across the seasons of rabi-2019, kharif-2020 and rabi- newline2020 and confirmed the role of three genes acting in duplicate-complementary manne |
