Abstract: | newlineix newlineABSTRACT newlineThe most common technical complication observed in a dental implant newlineprosthesis post-operatively, is screw loosening and occasionally, screw newlinefracture. The aim of this study is to develop a novel implant-abutment newlineconnection which eliminates the use of a prosthetic screw and to evaluate the newlinestress response of this novel connection under axial and non-axial loads newlinesimulating the mechanical loads present intraorally. Scientific literature on newlineimplant complications following loading, implant-abutment connections, newlineconometric abutments, implant abutments, surface modifications and biofilm newlineprevention strategies were extensively reviewed and properties favourable to newlinecrestal bone level and implant outcomes were procured. Awareness of implant newlinepractitioners on the influence of platform switching and implant abutment newlineconnections were also evaluated. A new model of implant abutment newlineconnection was devised based on the features were compiled and were newlineincorporated into the design. The new model was evaluated for stress newlinedistribution in comparison with a 3d model of the conventional implant under newlinesimulated loading conditions in a finite element analysis study. |
