Abstract

The main essence of the study was embodied a study on physique, physical fitness and psycho- newlinesocial profile among tribal community belonging in the districts of Bankura, Jhargram and Paschim newlineMedinipur with distinctive physical features along with their observable physiognomy. newlineAnthropometrically the Santal community is quite different from that of General community. In the newlinesame locality, due to specific physiognomy of a Mon-Khmer Group the Santals are included newlinepredominantly in Austro-Mongoloid Community. Santal community people have long head and flat newlinenose. Their complexion varies from dark brown to black in colour and usually have curly hair. They newlineare independent, self-conscious, active, cultured and skilful. They are self-sufficient enough to meet the newlineneedful demands of their day- to- day life. They are competent enough to make mats, baskets and newlinemusical instruments of everyday use. As per census report 2011, the Santals are the third largest ethnic newlinegroup in the country and in our state santals are near about half of the total tribal community. So, newlineresearch pertaining to physical education and sports be emphasized for their development as a whole newlineSchool going boys are the future of the nation and backbone of the society. Their sound health, newlinephysical fitness and psycho-social profile ultimately develop the nation and society.
