dc.description.abstract | In developing countries like India, there is a large requirement of civil infrastructures such as concrete bridges, highways, flyovers and residential buildings. Use of cement concrete is inevitable in the construction of these civil infrastructures. Fine aggregates and coarse aggregates are required in abundant quantities for the production of cement concrete. Manufacturing of cement consumes large volumes of natural resources, and it also releases large volumes of greenhouse gases that adversely affect the climatic conditions. While natural resources are being continuously depleted towards obtaining construction materials, several industries are dumping the by-products on vacant lands thereby causing environment pollution. newlineIn order to reduce the disposal of industrial by-products on vacant lands and also reduce quarrying of natural resources for obtaining fine and coarse aggregates, feasibility of using the industrial by-products in cement concrete production is investigated.
