Abstract: The aerospace industries utilize Custom 465 steel extensively for newlinelanding gear components due to its excellent mechanical properties. newlineResearchers adopted many techniques for machining such a new class of newlinematerial. However, the nanostructured coated cutting tools have addressed the newlineassociated problems during the machining of such materials. Amongst, the newlinebilayer coating architecture has helped and extended the life of the cutting newlinetools during machining. This bilayer coating architecture has its roles to newlineperform. The outer layer acts as a wear-resistant coating, and the inner layer newlineacts as an adhesion layer. Hence, they serve as a protective barrier and guard newlinethe cutting tools during machining. newlineThere was no literature found in machining Custom 465 steel, newlineaccording to the survey. Further, found that different combinations of bilayer newlinestructure on cutting tools improved the tool life during machining of similar newlinematerials. The vast scope of enhancing the machinability of Custom 465 steel newlineusing bilayer coated cutting tool inserts have not been much explored. This newlineresearch addresses this gap by carrying out the study in three phases to meet newlinethe desired objectives. newlineThe first phase of research work involves developing and newlineoptimizing the newline
