Abstract: | The existence of power system perturbations in distribution system makes the focus of power system engineers towards the development and enhancement in Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System (FACTS) based devices named as Custom Power Devices (CPDs) satisfying the objective of clean power supply. In modern days, soft computing technique based controllers are gaining popularity in mitigating the power system perturbations such as harmonics, reactive power compensation, reducing switching losses, balancing unbalanced non-linear loads for distorted voltages, enhancing power factor. Aspiration considering the research is incorporating modification in model along with analysis of various controllers employed for shunt active line conditioner termed as Modified Shunt Active Line Conditioner (MSALC) so as to satisfy the above mentioned objective functions. newlineAs most of the industrial loads are sensitive loads, whose performance will degrade depending on the decline in electrical power quality. The consumers need to be provided with good electrical power quality by mitigating the distribution system perturbations. To mitigate power system perturbations, deployment of CPDs is performed in order to provide good quality of electrical power to consumers. In this research work, MSALC proposed as a solution to mitigate harmonics, to compensate reactive power requirement, reducing switching losses, to balance unbalanced non-linear loads for distorted voltages, enhancing power factor with minimum overshoot and undershoot, high frequency response, and high accuracy features. newline |
