dc.description.abstractSuperalloys, Incoloy 825, Inconel 603 XL, Monel K400, and newlineInconel 600 have the general properties of high strength, high toughness, and newlinehigh corrosion resistance. Incoloy 825 has good mechanical properties from newlinecryogenic temperatures to moderately high temperatures. Exposure to newlinetemperatures above 540°C can make greater changes in the result in newlinemicrostructure (phase formation) that significantly bring down the ductility newlineand has a considerable impact strength. The application includes chemical newlineprocessing, pollution control, oil, and gas recovery, acid production, pickling newlineoperations, nuclear fuel reprocessing, and handling of radioactive wastes. newlineInconel 603 XL (nickel and chromium alloy) are highly resistant to elevated newlinetemperature oxidation and nitration. Inconel 603 XL is known to be resistant newlineto oxide spalling thus making this alloy very useful in areas where oxide newlinecontamination cannot be tolerated such as electronics, ceramics, glass, and newlinetableware industries. Monel K400 has been employed in food processing, newlinechemical industries, nuclear reactors, and sub-marine and properties such as newlinehigh strength, toughness, high corrosion resistance. Inconel 600 (nickel and newlinechromium alloy), having high strength, toughness, high corrosion resistance, newlinehas been employed in the heat exchanger tube, sub-marine, nuclear reactors, newlineand ship propellers. The superalloys are applied to a wide range of newlinecomponents that require cutting and drilling holes in it. Therefore, feasible newlinemachining of superalloys is performed by various machining processes newlineranging from traditional machining to non-traditional machinings like newlinemechanical drilling, water jet machining, laser-cut machining, and electrical newlinedischarge machining. The superalloys are difficult to machine by using newlinetraditional machining processes. Therefore, the superalloys are focused on newlinenon-traditional machining processes.
