Abstract: | The Hybrid Metal Matrix Composites (HMMCs) are in advance newlineextensively used due to their enhanced mechanical properties and lighter newlinedensity when compared with metals/alloys, particularly in applications where newlineweight and strength are of most important consequence. So far, there is no newlineexisting literature on the tribological and machining properties of AA6061 newlinehybrid metal matrix (AA6061/SiC/B4C/talc) composites. Therefore the newlineresearch gap found is to obtain improved mechanical characteristics and wear newlinebehaviour of the base alloy AA6061 by using SiC B4C and talc as newlinereinforcement. newlineThis research focused on fabrication of AA6061 hybrid metal newlinematrix (AA6061/SiC/B4C/talc) composites in whichAA6061actsas base metal newlinematrix with combination of reinforcement materials such as SiC,B4C and talc newlineproduced using stir casting process of composites. Studies on mechanical newlineproperties, microstructures, dry sliding wear analysis, thermal expansion newlineanalysis were carried out and also it involves the Design of Experiment (DoE) newlinetechniques to optimized machining parameters for composites which are newlinediscussed. The metal hybridized composite is stirred as a casting, with newlineAA6061 along with SiC, B4C inclusive of talc. The machinability, resistivity newlinetowards wear, and the influence of thermal behaviour were examined with newlinethis hybridized composite. newlineThe outcome of reinforcement of particulates in a composite makes newlineit more formable and also ascended outgrowths on strengthening mechanisms. newlineThe outcome of drilling in a composite hybridized with metal laterally with newlinesome other reinforcement is intensified with the various elemental techniques newlinein this acquaintance. newline |
