Abstract: | It is well known fact that the textile fibres are used as a single component fibre to produce nonwoven fabric for different applications. Also, the fibres are blended to obtain desirable combinations of properties, by mixing the fibres thoroughly to produce the uniform blend and reduce the variation as well as to improve the functional properties of the products. Nature and mankind have offered us with different kind of textile fibres with extraordinary properties that can be utilized for the benefit of the society. The textile fibres can be used as single component or blended with two or more fibres together to improve certain characteristics of the end use product. The nonwoven material produced from blended fibres might have enhanced the characteristics of nonwoven fabrics than those obtained from single component fibre nonwoven fabrics. Natural fibres are blended with synthetic fibres for better performance in terms of aesthetic and functional properties such as absorption, insulation, resistance and durability. Any successful attempt to blend new fibres would be a breakthrough in the field of textiles. In the nonwoven needle punched fabric production process, the objective of producing nonwoven fabric is to fit for the purpose of the society and industry with acceptable quality and reasonable cost. The selection of fibres and perfect blend requires the use of sufficient methods, objective techniques to select fibres and information about the fibre characteristics. The usage of natural, manmade and recycled fibres for the production of needle punched nonwoven fabric reduces production cost and good quality of blends with different kinds of fibres newline |
