Abstract: | Switched Reluctance Motors (SRM) are widely used in variety newlineof applications due to their simple construction, lower cost, robustness, better newlinefault tolerant characteristics, high torque to inertia ratio and power ratio, high newlinetorque in low speed, simple control and converter topologies. However, SRM newlineexhibits high non-linear characteristics because of magnetic saturation. A newlinenon-linear robust controller is required to operate SRMs. Sliding Mode newlineControl (SMC) shows excellent robustness against external disturbance and newlinechanges in system parameters. newlineEstimating rotor position information is an important newlinerequirement for the effective functioning of SRMs for speed control newlineapplications. Conventionally, speed sensors have been used for rotor position newlineestimation which incurs additional cost and also needs more space. newlineIndirect/sensorless method estimation methods were developed as an newlinealternative to sensor based methods. newlineThe objective of this work is design and implementation of newlineSliding Mode Observer (SMO) based SRM control methods like Current newlineSliding Mode Observer (CSMO), Flux Sliding Mode Observer (FSMO) and newlineHybrid Observer (HO) which developed by combining CSMO and FSMO newlinemethods.
