Chalcone is a privileged molecule of medicinal importance and are striking moiety to researchers as these are uncomplicated to synthesize, have large figure of substitutive hydrogens due to which chalcones and derivatives (carbocyclic and heterocyclic) have been known to possess and display a diverse range of biological activities. Chalcones are defined as 1, 3-diphenyl-prop-2-en-1-one, consisting of two aromatic rings are joined by a three carbon and#945;, and#946;-unsaturated carbonyl moiety. They are plentiful in edible plants like Apple, Kiwi, Tomatoes etc. and are deliberated as precursors of isoflavonoids and flavonoids. The reactive and#945;, and#946;-unsaturated keto function in chalcones CO CH=CH is responsible for their pharmacological activity. Chalcones possess a broad spectrum of biological activities including antimicrobial, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, anthelmintic, antioxidant, antiulcer, antiviral, amoebicidal, antileishmanial, antimalarial, insecticidal, antiprotozoal, anticancer, cytotoxic, immunosuppressant etc. These can be synthesized in laboratory by Claisen Schmidt condensation, Heck reaction, Suzuki reaction, One pot synthesis, Aldol condensation, Microwave assisted, Ultrasound assisted etc. newline
