Abstract: This thesis work focuses on the braking system in Electric Vehicle (EV) through the enhanced current flow controlling technique for the Brushless DC motor (BLDC) and it can be achieved by the optimal parameter tuning method in the closed loop controlling system. There are several methods of braking techniques available for the EV system and they all mostly handle the controlling of mechanical components. For the EV system, if the braking system depends on the mechanical model, this will increase the load to motor and also require additional special components to protect the DC motor. To overcome those problems, some research works have approached super capacitors to apply the opposing current flow to the motor and it tends to provide only braking force to the BLDC motor. To control the speed of the motor, a special controlling technique needs to be implemented to manage the speed of EV with its required Revolution per Minute (RPM) and it has been proposed. This proposed work performs a high efficient speed controlling and braking system for BLDC in EV system. It also uses Photovoltaic (PV) based solar energy for electric power generation and it acts as the additional power source to BLDC motor. This battery of the vehicle is connected in parallel to the DC power line and it gets charging and supply power to motor at the absence of solar energy. The key findings of the thesis work is to present a novel model of controlling system to EV braking system and speed control of BLDC motor. The enhancement can be achieved by analyzing the feedback parameters of EV engine torque and flow of current in the stator of BLDC to control the switching activities of converters design in the motor driving unit. Since, the PV parameters are also needs to consider for the optimal controlling in the situation of partial shading effect and irregular radiation from solar power. newline
