Abstract: newlineABSTRACT newlineThe increasing population pressure, technological advances in the newlinecompetitive global market large member of people in India are bereft of stable newlinelivelihoods. Today it is widely accepted that promotion of large number of newlinelivelihoods especially for rural poor and women has emerged as the most significant newlinedevelopment challenge of the century. The largest poverty alleviation project being newlineimplemented by Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty and funded by District newlineRural Development Authority in Andhra Pradesh is Indira Kranthi Patham. The goal newlineof Indira Kranthi Patham Project is to reduce the poverty levels of those living at the newlineBelow Poverty Line and Poorest of the Poor stages through sustainable community newlinebased women organizations by introducing livelihood interventions by institution newlinebuilding, human resource capacity building and community managed sustainable newlineagriculture. This was the back ground and basis for the present study. The researcher newlinehas conducted a field research on few components of Indira Kranthi Patham such as newlinesocio-economic aspects, expenditure pattern, benefits occurred by the programme, newlineand improvement in quality of life pertaining to only women Self Help Group newlinemembers of Below Poverty Line families and Poorest of the Poor to know the newlinepercolation of the programme among the needy so as to improve their living newlineconditions. newlineThe study has assessed the pre-post conditions of the Indira Kranthi Patham newlinebeneficiaries interms of improved well being and changes in their quality of life. The newlinequality of life in particular was measured using six parameters psychological newlinewellbeing, social wellbeing, Economic wellbeing, Physical wellbeing, Occupational newlinewellbeing and Education wellbeing - for evaluating the efficacy of Indira Kranthi Patham for the beneficiaries. Further to strengthen the study findings, in depth newlinecase study analysis was also included as part of the research study. Suitable and newlinesystematic statistical analysis was carried out to assess the outcome of the study. The newlineoutcome and findings of the study are heartening and emphasized the requirement newlinefor community need based programmes for families living at Below Poverty Line newlineand poorest of the poor strata.
