Abstract: The present thesis entitled, FICTIONAL WORLD OF KHUSHWANT newlineSINGH: A DEPICTION OF SOCIAL HISTORY aimed to explore and newlineanalyse social history in the selected novels of Khushwant Singh. newlineThe study is carried out according to certain aims and objectives. newlineThe works of the novelist have been greatly influenced by the newlinepersonal and the social lives, he has experienced. The novelist has newlinebrought out the social feelings, experience and the cultural newlineconsciousness of his characters. Undoubtedly, the experiences of newlinethese characters are close to those of their creator. newlineGlobalization has provided several issues by bringing about a newlinechange in themes. In the present time, it becomes responsible to newlinehave as many phases as the moon for the concept of everything. newlineEven family relationship emerges as the authentic source to Indian newlinenovelists with high seriousness because the traditional heritage of newlineIndia gives great importance to the family unit. That makes a newlineclean breast of the inner world of human psyche by exploring the newlinehuman heart.Title of the Research newlineAgainst this backdrop, the hypothesis can be precisely cited here, newlinethat now days, human beings are leading their lives in both visible newlineand invisible complexities. There are a number of issues that can newlinebe held responsible for the agony and tyranny of human beings. newlineTherefore, human beings are swinging like a pendulum between newlinethe pain which is pleasurable and the pleasure which is painful. newlineConsequently, human beings fail to remember and disseminate newlinehuman sense and sensibilities. These are the results of newlineglobalization, privatization and marketization. newlineKhushwant Singh s fictional world is an authentic organ of Indian newlinesociety and history. He has attested it in his literary world. His newlinenovels are the best piece of social critique, where he casts newlinelight on the human sense and sensibilities. His attitude of newlinesocial realism puts him as a different writer from his newlinecontemporaries.
