dc.description.abstract | The skilled workforce is considered a crucial component of any industry. It is a vital factor, which help to boost the productivity and thereby participate in the economic development of the country. In India, the scarcity of the skilled workforce has been felt for several decades. However, attention to develop a skilled workforce has started in the last decades. Further, it is accelerated after the quotMake in Indiaquot initiative, which was launched by the government of India in 2014. The quotMake in Indiaquot programme aims to encourage foreign investment in the country and make India a quotManufacturing Hubquot in the world. The programme identified 25 key sectors that have a significant potential to grow and can raise the manufacturing GDP from a stagnant 16 % to 25 % by the year 2022. newline | |
