Abstract: Slum is a worldwide urban phenomenon. Unplanned urbanization with declining infrastructure and urban facilities for growing urban population, cause increase in number of slums in many cities of the developing world (UN-DESA, 2014).Today, more than half (54.5 percent) of the world population live in urban settlements. More than 90 percent of world urban growth is taking place in the developing nations like Asia and Africa and by 2030, it is projected that 60 percent of the world population will live in urban areas, that every third person will live in cities having a population of at least half a million inhabitants (UN-Habitat, 2007; World Bank; 2011, UN-Habitat, 2015). newline
