Abstract: | Homeotropically aligned liquid crystal (HALC) display devices have become much more necessary as the demand for liquid crystal displays (LCDs) has grown over the past several decades. This is because HALC displays have greatly enhanced morphological and electro-optical (E-O) performance, which is the top priority of consumers. As a result, various researchers have investigated HALC devices made of nanoparticles (NPs) and observed improved E-O properties of LCDs with lower threshold and working fields. In order to create homeotropic alignment of LCs, a layer of polymer film has frequently been placed on substrates over the years. The most used polymer is polyimide (PI), which has good thermal and chemical stability. However, PI often requires a lengthy processing period at a high temperature (above 200 °C), which is unsuitable for industrial production and also incompatible with the majority of flexible substrates. Due to the inclusion of numerous process steps, including polyimide coating, high temperature baking and rubbing, etc., the manufacturing procedures of these HALC devices are still difficult and time-consuming. newline |
