Abstract: | Vitamin D is a sunshine vitamin. Vitamin D insufficiency and deficiency occur in chronic newlinekidney disease (CKD) patients and also in normal renal functions in tropical regions. newlineChronic kidney disease (CKD) is a growing health issue worldwide and nearly 1 million newlinepeople have a deficiency of vitamin D. Due to greater sun exposure and increased newlineproduction of Vitamin D, sufficient level of Serum Vitamin D is expected in the people of newlinetropical regions to the inhabitants of non-tropical regions. In Nepal, CKD patients are newlineincreasing and difficult to manage due to different factors. The formation of Vitamin D is newlinedisturbed in end stage of renal disease (ESRD). Vitamin D receptor (VDR) genotypes newlinedifferentiation may cause modification of the VDR structure, ultimately leading to newlinechanged receptor function, which may alter the VDR protein gene expression thereby newlinecausing end stage renal disease (ESRD). Vitamin D receptor (VDR) genes polymorphism newline(BsmI and FokI) are known as reliable markers of abnormal vitamin D signalling newlinepathway. Vitamin D receptor (VDR) polymorphism Bsml and Fokl may be associated newlinewith End stage renal disease. We explored the correlation between Age, Ethnic group, newlineVitamin D, and Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD, associations between 25-hydroxy newlinevitamin D and different stages of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD and to find out the status newlineof serum 25 (OH) Vitamin D and to assess the relationship of VDR gene polymorphism newline(BsmI and fokI) in ESRD patients on maintenance hemodialysis. |
