Abstract: newline Multi Level Inverters (MLIs) are becoming popular in the newlinearena of medium voltage and medium-power applications. There newlineare three traditional MLI configurations, namely, i) Neutral Point newlineClamped (NPC), ii) Flying Capacitor (FC), and iii) Cascaded H-Bridge newline(CHB) inverters for various industrial applications. But the newlinerequirement of a large number of clamping diodes and complex newlinecapacitor voltage balancing techniques in NPC and FC MLIs, newlinerestricts the applicability of these topologies for higher level newlinegeneration. On the other hand, CHB has become popular for an newlineincreased number of output levels, owing to its modular nature. newlineHowever, it requires large number of separate DC sources and/or newlineisolated transformers to attain higher number of output voltage newline
