AWL Troponyms and Web Tools to Enhance the ESL Learners Vocabulary Level

Abstract

This thesis aims to explore the effective utilization of AWL troponyms and Web newlineTools among English as Second Language (ESL) learners to increase their vocabulary newlinelevel. The study examines how AWL troponym teaching and technological assistance newlinerelate to an enhanced vocabulary breadth for ESL learners. The Academic Word List newline(AWL), the Vocabulary Level Test (VLT), customized AWL Troponyms tool and web newlinetools like Nearpod, Wordup, synonyms.com, vocabulary.com, and learningapps.org newlinewere used to teach AWL troponyms to select samples. Purposive sampling was used to newlineidentify ESL participants to ensure that the data gathered would deliver relevant insights newlineto address research questions. A progress test was conducted every week for both control newlineand experimental groups for a comparative analysis between the two instructional newlinevocabulary courses along with pre-test and post-test. The pre-test and post-test data newlinewere analyzed using SPSS software version 26. The study used the constructivism theory newlinefor interpreting and reconciling these findings. The study also revealed the ESL newlinelearners perception of AWL troponym instructional methods. The results suggest that newlineeffective utilization of AWL troponyms with web tools is beneficial for ESL learners to newlineenhance their vocabulary levels. newline
