Abstract: Next generation wireless networks mainly aim to enhance the network value by providing newlinehigher data rates with upgraded Quality of Service (QoS) provisions. In order to newlinemeet the requirements of high capacity, uniform accessibility, variable traffic types and newlineenergy efficiency, Heterogeneous Networks (HetNets) have been developed. As the network newlinetraffic increases in HetNets, energy consumption also intensifies, which imparts newlinehostile effects on the society by the emission of CO2. Most of the existing literatures reveal newlinethat a lot of researches have been done on improving the system capacity and data newlinerates, but they give up on analyzing the techniques in energy efficiency stands. This newlineresearch work mainly aims at reducing energy consumption in future heterogeneous newlinenetworks thereby dropping the level of CO2 in the atmosphere and hence to serve the newlineworld community. newlineIn this thesis, an on-demand, traffic based joint deployment and scheduling of radio newlinestations is proposed to explicitly address the power consumption challenges of next generation newlineheterogeneous wireless networks. The proposed power scheduling algorithm is newlinedesigned by considering the variations in network traffic, employs cooperative scheduling newlineamong the radio stations thereby eliminating the issues of connectivity losses. The newlineproposed algorithm initially aims at designing an On-Demand real time Traffic Estimation newline(ODTE) framework for selecting a suitable area for HetNet deployment. The newlinearea selection for relay deployment will be based on the off-peak hours obtained from newlinethe ODTE framework. The proposed ODTE selects an area for relay deployment such newlinethat, there should be a defined off-peak hours in a day. The ODTE is compared with newlineErlang Probability measures and the results show that the proposed traffic estimation newlinecan provide better QoS. The research then focuses on the deployment scheme of Relay newlineStations(RSs) since their location mainly affects the quality of the communication links. newlineA framework called, Transmission Area based Relay Station Deployment (TARS
