Abstract: Background: Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infected adolescents face unique challenges when it comes to accepting and treating their diseases. Aim of the Study: To evaluate the effectiveness of Holistic Humanized Nursing Care strategies (HHNCS) on selected physio and psychological parameters of adolescents living with HIV. Subjects and Methods: This study was conducted using a quasi experimental non equivalent control group research design.246 adolescents living with HIV in primary stage and stage I HIV registered in Indian Community Welfare Organization (ICWO) at Thiruvallur and Kancheepuram district, who fulfilled the inclusion criteria formed the samples. Data on physiological parameters includes HRQOL, fatigue, BMI, WC and psychological parameter self esteem which are appraised by Modified 32 Item-Health survey questionnaire, Modified HIV related Fatigue Scale (HRFS), BMI formula, waist circumference and Rosenberg self esteem scale measured at 12th and 24th week after the HHNCS respectively. Results: The comparison between the mean score in pre test, post test 1 and post test 2 within the experimental group revealed a statistically significant score of F=714.54 (HRQOL), 640.74 (fatigue), 2.94 (BMI) and and#967;2=47.25 (self esteem),whereas the scores of the control group did not reveal any statistical significance. The correlation of the mean differed physio and psychological parameters (HRQOL, Self esteem, Fatigue, BMI and WC) score using coefficient correlation among adolescents living with HIV in experimental group. Statistical significant association of selected demographic variables with Overall Physio and psychological parameters of adolescents living HIV in experimental group was identified. Conclusion: Administration of easily adaptable, natural, simple and non-pharmacological Holistic Humanized Nursing Care Strategies can empower the adolescents living with HIV to effectively manage their disease related symptoms and thereby facilitate enhancement of their Health Related Quality of Life and promote a positive and healthy life.
