Abstract: The present research aims to experimentally investigate and newlinecompare the structural behaviour of Nano silica modified concrete infilled newlinelight gauge steel columns with plain cement concrete in-filled and newlinehollow light gauge steel columns under axial compressive loading. The newlineexperimental outcomes are compared with the theoretical and numerical newlineresults. The study is undertaken in four parts. In the first part, the newlinephysical, chemical and mechanical properties of nano silica modified newlineconcrete are analysed. The second part examines the nano silica newlinemodified concrete in - filled light gauge steel rectangular and circular newlinecolumns subjected to axial loading. In the third phase, the study foretells newlinethe theoretical ultimate strength capacity of nano silica modified newlineconcrete in - filled light gauge steel rectangular and circular columns newlineusing the codes of EC4, ACI/AS, and BS5400. The fourth part presents newlinean analytical study on nano silica modified concrete in - filled light newlinegauge steel rectangular and circular columns using Finite Element newlineSoftware. newlineFrom the mechanical properties strength test, it was found that newline2 % of Nano silica added to the concrete foretold more strength than any newlineother percentage. The load carrying capacity of nano - silica modified newlineconcrete in - filled light gauge steel columns acquired 1.04 and 2.36 newlinetimes more load than the plain cement concrete in - filled and hollow newlinelight gauge steel columns, respectively. The influence of nano silica newlinemodified concrete in - filled light gauge steel column is illustrated by newlineload vs. deflection characteristics, Load vs. strain and load vs. axial newlineshortening behaviour. The load vs strain characteristics manifest that the newlinenonlinear portion of nano silica modified concrete in-filled light gauge newlinesteel columns had an excellent yield plateau. The theoretical strength newlinecapacity of nano silica modified concrete in - filled light gauge steel newlinecolumns using the guidelines provided in EC4 predicted values almost newlineequal to the experimental strength, whereas other codes such as ACI/AS newlineand
