Abstract: | ABSTRACT newlineTOPIC: EFFECTIVENESS OF RIGHT SIDE MEDIAN NERVE ELECTRICAL STIMULATION newlineAMONG TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY SUBJECTS newlineInvestigator: P. Divya Laxmi, MPT II year (Neuro), newlineProject Guide: Dr. A. Kumaresan, M.P.T., Ph.D., Associate professor, newline Saveetha College of Physiotherapy, Saveetha Institute of newline Medical and Technical Sciences, Chennai 602 105 newlineAIM: newlineand#61623; To determine the effectiveness of right median nerve electrical stimulation on level of newlineconsciousness and functional changes among traumatic brain injury subjects. newlineOBJECTIVE: newlineand#61623; To evaluate the consciousness and functional changes by using Glasgow coma scale and disability newlinerating scale among RLA Level 1 and Level 2 traumatic brain injury subjects. newlineand#61623; To evaluate level of consciousness pre and post treatment by right median nerve electrical newlinestimulation among RLA Level 1 and Level 2 traumatic brain injury subjects newlineand#61623; To evaluate functional changes pre and post treatment by right median nerve electrical stimulation newlineamong RLA Level 1 and Level 2 traumatic brain injury subjects. newlineMETHODOLOGY: newlineand#61623; Study design : Quasi Experimental Study design newlineand#61623; Study setting : Saveetha Medical College and Hospital newlineand#61623; Sampling technique : Convenient sampling newlineand#61623; Sample size : 30 newlineProcedure: 30 traumatic brain injury subjects, both male and female between the age group of 20-55 newlineyears were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Subjects were recruited into study through newlineconvenient sampling method from Saveetha Medical College and Hospital. Informed consent form was newlineobtained from subject s attendee. Ranchos Los Amigos Scale (RLA) was used as confirmatory test for newlineinclusion of subjects. Pre-test analysis was done by Glasgow Coma scale (GCS) and functional changes newlineby Disability Rating scale(DRS). After Pre-test analysis, 30 traumatic brain injury subjects received right newlinemedian nerve electrical stimulation. Similarly, Post-test analysis was done through GCS and DRS. newlineOUTCOME MEASURE: newline1. Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) newline2. Disability Rating Scale (DRS) newline |
