Abstract: | Comfort is an aspect and is considered as one of the important newlinecharacteristics of clothing. Worldwide, many researchers focus on improving newlinethe comfort properties of garments and attire accessories. Generally, the newlinecomfort provided by a garment can be distinguished into three categories, newlineviz., thermo-physiological comfort, sensorial comfort, and psychological newlinecomfort. Thermo-physiological comfort is gained from a fabric by its ability newlineto transmit heat, air, and moisture from the skin to the atmosphere. Socks are newlinegenerally worn for leisure and sports purposes and they provide good comfort newlineto the end-users during specific activities. During physical activities, owing newlineto the metabolic processes, the human body exerts heat and sweat. Socks newlineabsorb sweat and conduct it to the atmosphere. The comfort property of socks newlineis influenced by several factors, mainly the exchange of heat within the fabric newlineof socks, moisture transfer, evaporation, and air permeability. As socks are newlineenclosed in shoes, limited airflow occurs in them. The amount of airflow in newlinesocks is less than that happens in pieces of clothing that are worn on different newlineparts of the human body. Socks are skin-tight garments. Not much research newlinehas been carried out on the comfort properties of socks. The present research newlineaims to address the gap in the study of socks using carrying out an in-depth newlinestudy on the comfort properties of socks. Many factors contribute to the newlinequality of socks. Factors such as kind and properties of yarn used in the fabric newlineof the socks, type of knitting, machine parameters, finishing method, etc., newlineinfluence the quality of socks. newline |
