Abstract: | Hydraulic transients are the spontaneous successor event in the downstream of a pipe flow newlinenetwork due to the operation of any regulatory device. Depending on promptness/ speed of newlineflow control, flowing fluid characteristics, flowing volume, conduit material, the affect of the newlinetransient are of different intensity and may be disastrous in the worst case, leading to newlinetremendous loss of life and property. The ten thousand plus rural, public Pipe Water Supply newlineScheme in the state of Assam with topographic undulations /gradients along with other water newlinesupply schemes of civic bodies in cities and towns give scopes of frequent growth of newlinehydraulic transient conditions. A good number of hydro power plants are already installed and newlinea lot are at different stages of implementation in the Sub-Himalayan North-Eastern Region, newlinewhich has one third of hydro power potential of whole of India. These hydropower plants with newlineor without the provision of surge tank also developed scope for formation of high intensity newlinehydraulic transients at no load condition. |
