Abstract: ABSTRACT newline newlineRenewable energy sources gained a lot of popularity around the newlineworld because of the prices of fossil fuels. In order to improve the newlinesecurity of energy supplies, Renewable energy sources are considered newlineas important. Moreover, rural areas are suffering from a lack of newlineelectricity, because they are far away from the grid facility. Renewable newlineenergy sources are easily available and are the only option for rural newlineelectrification. In this thesis, hybrid wind-hydro and hybrid wind-pv newlinesystems connected to AC generators with battery storage are closely newlinestudies. newline The purpose of the present work is to improve power quality, newlinemaintaining load voltage at desired frequency level for rural newlineelectrification. Because the availability of these sources is newlineunpredictable, power management is essential for obtaining energy newlinefrom wind, hydro, and solar sources. For standalone systems the issues newlineof voltage and frequency control are important. The major objectives of newlinethis research are to achieve Maximum Power Point Tracking techniques newlineand Power management systems for the hybrid renewable energy newlineconversion systems newlineThe utilization of various types of AC generators for hybrid wind newlineenergy conversion system with battery energy storage system is closely newlinestudied. Accordingly, suitable power converters are interfaced and newlinecontrolled to achieve voltage and frequency control at the load. This newlinethesis considers an advanced controller involving Fuzzy and neural newlinev newline newlineAndhra University, Visakhapatnam newlinenetwork controller for wind-hydro. With these proposed controllers the newlinesystem inherently becomes capable of maintaining constant voltage newlineand frequency, reducing harmonics, load balancing. newlineThis work also considers a wind-solar hybrid system and the newlinedesign of a thirty-one-level Multilevel Inverter. The performance of the newlineinverter is analyzed in simulation and also through experimental newlineverification using the dSPACE controller.
