Abstract: With industrial and population growth, energy consumption has increased significantly over the last three decades. Sustainable energy supply is the main requirement of modern society to respond to the increased energy demand. Due to exhaustion of fossil fuels, the new era of power generation is mainly concentrated on renewable energy resources. Wind energy conversion system in electricity power production has increased rapidly owing to enormous technical developments significantly reducing cost leading to economic production of energy. But because of newlinethe variable nature of wind, a smooth power delivery in wind energy conversion system has become a relevant requirement for ensuring proper power quality. There are various issues responsible for poor power quality like deviation of magnitude, frequency and voltage fluctuations. Many studies have been analysed in literature survey to enhance power smoothing in wind generation system. An integrated power smoothing technique for Doubly-Fed Induction Generator newline(DFIG) based wind energy conversion system for varying wind and varying load newlineconditions is presented and discussed in this thesis. An Intelligent Control Strategy newlineusing an Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy approach to regulate the pitch angle of variable newlinespeed wind turbine is been proposed to enhance power smoothing in DFIG based newlinewind generation system.
