Abstract: | This study had used oleaginous yeast to recover lipids from sugarcane Bagasse and paddy straw waste. Sugarcane Bagasse was collected from sugar mills and juice shops, while paddy straw was collected from agricultural fields. Pretreatment methods are used to obtain cellulose and hemicelluloses from sugarcane Bagasse and paddy straw. The reduction of particle size was achieved by grinding and milling with a mechanical pretreatment. The particle size was taken as less than 0.75mm. newlineThe Chemical pretreatments were carried out on sugarcane bagasse and paddy straw to obtain sugars and other cell components. Acid and alkaline pretreatments produced hydrolysates. In response to acid pretreatment, both substrates exhibited higher Carbon / Nitrogen (C/N) ratios and sugar values. The Carbon/Nitrogen ratio had been determined using the Total Organic Carbon (TOC) analyzer. For sugarcane Bagasse acid hydrolysate the maximum carbon/nitrogen value was found by 28.7 and for paddy straw, it was 17.8. newlineA Dinitrosalicylic acid (DNS) method was used to measure the reduction of sugar in hydrolysates. A high-performance liquid chromatography technique was used to calculate the maximum sugar concentration in the sample. The RSM method was used to optimize the acid pretreatment.
