Abstract: Studies have shown the association between vitamin D and diabetes though there are varying etiologies from dietary habits to exercise also vitamin D has its link in different sites in the body playing a role also as an immunomodulator. This made us to design this study to find out the vitamin D levels and their association with insulin levels. newlineMaterials: Sample size was 85, 30 subjects age 25 to 35 yrs of age, both sex, with normal vitamin D level and 55 subjects with low vitamin D levels. Subjects were chosen from the normal population who attended the master health check-up. Sample size of 60 and from both sex. Subjects previously diagnosed with diabetes, hypertension and thyroid diseases were excluded from the study. newline newlineMethodology: After getting consent, questionnaire was distributed to the subjects. Anthropometric measurement were recorded, blood pressure were taken after a 10 minute rest and documented , Blood were drawn using vacutainer with red and grey top and the following investigations were done the same day. Fasting plasma glucose in DADE XPAND (Siemens),Serum vitamin D in Maglumi and Serum insulin in access2 Beckman coulter day. newlineResults: results were analysed using SPSS software version 21. Independent t test were calculated and significance was found in vitamin D and FPG, INSULIN, HOMO IR MODEL, QUICKI INDEX. Anova was done by splitting of groups into four based on vitamin D levels and significance was got between groups for insulin, HOMO IR and QUICKI. Conclusion: this study concludes that there is significant association between vitamin D levels and serum insulin levels. Reproduction of this in a larger population will help the clinician to diagnose and treat diabetes in a better way. newline newline
