The Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) has piqued industrial attention newlinefor numerous reasons, including a physically and thermally durable rotor, newlineuncomplicated stator windings and simplicity of production. The prime focus newlineof SRM has been to improve efficiency while lowering torque ripple and newlinelosses. Since the application of the proposed SRM design is for electric newlinevehicles, the motor should be free from vibrations and should have higher newlineefficiency. The existing SRM motor configurations have less efficiency and newlineproduce more vibration. newlineThis study proposes a new form of SRM termed the Doubly Salient newlineOuter Rotor Switched Reluctance Motor (DSORSRM) for lightweight electric newlinevehicles. Three configurations of DSORSRM are presented to improve the newlinetorque profile and loss minimization. The electromagnetic analysis is carried newlineout in these configurations to predict the performance. When the motor is newlineconsidered in a specific application, it is essential to minimize the torque newlineripple to reduce the vibration and acoustic noise. newlineThis thesis provides a detailed investigation considering different newlinelaminating materials, different rotor pole configurations and stator poles with newlinepermanent magnets to enhance the performance of the DSORSRM. The newlineperformance parameters considered for analysis are torque ripple newlineminimization, maximization of average torque and loss minimization newline
