Abstract: Coronary Heart Disease is a complex condition influenced by genetic and newlineenvironmental factors. Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) invades the endothelium and is newlineoxidized by free radicals, triggering inflammation in the blood. The production of newlinesuperoxide and enhanced oxidative stress alter LDL-C to atherogenic oxidized newlineOxidized LDL stimulates the release of growth factors, and it is cytotoxic to endothelial newlineand smooth muscle cells that induce endothelial cell dysfunction. An elevated level of newlineox-LDL results in reduced NO bioavailability by combined effects of direct elimination newlineand decreased production of NO. Gene variations in the gene encoding endothelial nitric newlineoxide synthase (eNOS) may impact CHD initiation. Insufficient production of nitric newlineoxide is the most apparent cause of endothelial dysfunction newline
