Abstract: | Congestion in Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is one of the critical problems still from it s newlineevolution. Congestion can be a severe problem as it causes plethora of malfunctions such as packet loss, lower throughput, excessive energy consumption, increase in collisions, increase in queuing delay and decreased network lifetime. As a result, the performance of the whole network is subject to undesirable and unpredictable changes. Congestion control in WSN can be carried out by robust congestion control approaches that aim to keep the network operational under varying network conditions. Therefore, in WSN congestion control, avoidance and alleviation mechanisms are inevitable and necessary. These congestion monitoring operations avoids overloading in the network, utilize and schedule the resources fairly through out the network and regulates the overall network flow to maintain the operational stability of the network. This thesis presents a set of policies, mechanisms, algorithms and analytical models to address few of the congestion control issues and challenges in WSN. Several routing policies based on priority, energy efficiency, load balancing, optimal path finding are proposed. Performance modeling for providing differentiated service for different traffic classes in WSN is designed. newline |
