Abstract: World Health Organization (WHO) has categorised 12 of the pathogens as high-risk newlinepriority II pathogens which require immediate attention. In particular, S. aureus is known newlineto cause a wide range of diseases, from skin infections to serious illnesses like newlinepneumonia, meningitis, bacteraemia and sepsis. Among the various resistant strains, newlinemethicillin resistant (MRSA) and vancomycin resistant (VRSA) strains are known to be newlinesources for the spread of community infections. Multi Drug Resistant Tuberculosis newline(MDR-TB) caused due to Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) has emerged as another newlinemajor life-threatening disease. A number of studies indicated that the anti-microbial newlineresistance (AMR) has attained frightening levels globally. Around 750,000 deaths are newlinereported annually due to AMR and the toll is likely to rise to 10 million by 2050. Owing newlineto the rapid rise in antibiotic resistance, infectious diseases have become serious threat to newlinepublic health. There is an urgent need to develop new antimicrobial agents with diverse newlinechemical structures and novel mechanisms of action to overcome the resistance newline
