Abstract: | Today, optical network plays a tremendous role to sustain sufficient data transfer at the time of emergency and safety applications. However, fiber non-linearity limits the optical networks performance whenever data rates, transmission lengths, number of wavelengths and optical signal power level increases. Thereby, it has brought out a hot research topic to develop new Optically-Routed Networks (ORNs) which provide a promising solution in all the above mentioned aspects. In last two decades, Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) system was implemented for maximization of data rate in the optical network. However, nonlinear effects degraded performance of the optical materials function such as photonic switch, optical fiber cable, etc. There are five major non-linearity effects that are categorized as Non linear scattering techquies: Self Phase Modulation (SPM), Cross Phase Modulation (XPM), Four Wave Mixing (FWM), and Linear Scattering techniques: Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS) and Stimulated Brillouin Scattering (SBS). Among these, XPM and FWM play a significant role which eventually limits the channel density and capacity of WDM systems. In this research work, both XPM and FWM nonlinearity effects are minimized upto a reasonably allowable value by adopting proper Non Linearity Compensation (NLC) techniques, such as Hybrid Modulation scheme, CSRZ modulation formats, Back Propagation (BP) and equalization of nonlinear Phase and Polarization Rotation Noise (PPRN). newline |
